Since 1962, the Society is running the one year Course “Certificate in Horticulture” (residential for boys) affiliated to the Calcutta University.
The course comprises one year’s intensive training for boys in the principles and practices of horticulture. There will be two theoretical and three practical papers on the fundamentals of horticulture and principles and practices of gardening. The session usually begins in the month of August / September and closes in following August / September depending on the publication of result of Higher Secondary Examination under the Board of Secondary Education, West Bengal.
Qualification for Admission
Male candidate, who has attained the age of 16 years to 25 years on 31st of June of the year of admission and has successfully completed the Higher Secondary Examination (10 + 2) with Agriculture or Bio-Science with 50 % marks and possesses good health will be eligible for admission to this course. Selection for Admission will be made on the basis of marks obtained in the qualifying Examination and performance at the interview.
Admission and Tuition Fees
Application Form for admission may be supplied on request, during July / August. For this purpose, send one self-address postal stamped envelope, along with the request letter or download the Admission Form from the link given below. There will be an Admission fee of ₹100/- (Rupees One hundred only) payable at the time of admission and Tuition Fee of ₹40/- (Rupees Forty only) payable in advance on the 10th day of each month. Establishment Fee of ₹10/- (Rupees Ten only) per month is payable along with the tuition fee. Besides, each student will have to deposit ₹100/- (Rupees One hundred only) as Caution Money at the time of admission which will be refunded student on completion of this course of training after deduction of any amount that may be charged due to breakage or loss of laboratory and garden equipment.
The daily programme of eight hours work will comprise of practical and theoretical classes from Monday to Saturday. The hours of work will be adjusted according to requirement. Sunday is the weekly day off. Society’s holiday will be followed in Institute also.
The students will have to stay in the Hostel which will be provided free of cost. Arrangements for food will have to be made by the students. No guests are allowed for night stay. Staying out, without permission, is not allowed. Maximum of 10 students will be admitted per session.
