All over the world there is now realization that the conservation and sustainable and equitable use of medicinal plants is essential for achieving the goal of “health for all and forever”. “The present Enclycopedia is unique in some respects. It includes medicinal  species of Pteridophytes, which few earlier book had it also gives chemical constituent of species. Further as it confines to Himalayan region, the main home of medicinal plants in India, there will be greater emphasis on species accounts. The species account has succinct information on agro-climatic requirements and agro-techniques.”
