Garden Management

We believe that a garden must be harmoniously arranged so that it is not just pleasing to the eye but also convenient to access. As a result, the society embarked on a scientific management of its estate. We have initiated a master plan of the garden's zonal segregation in 1996-97 - into 13 zones with 18 sub areas based on parameters like topography, vegetation characteristics and location.

Visitors now find it easier to visit and view specific garden areas according to its character and their choice. For instance, the G Block is reserved for medicinal plants, K is earmarked for Japanese garden and in Q plants have been placed at random and has aptly been named as "Abol Tabol" after Sukumar Roy's famous nonsense verse.

Within each block, tress are labeled - Red signposts for rare Trees, Blue for the Uncommon and Green for those easily available.
