Ecology

The deterioration of our biosphere and ecosystem due to environmental pollution has gradually taken an alarming turn. It is a real threat to the natural flora and fauna which can no longer be ignored. The levels of pollution of the four major biotic components of environment viz. air, water, land and indirectly sound have exceeded the permissible limits for sustenance of a healthy life and for the development of all life forms of this planet.

In any environmental improvement program, plants are on the centrestage of planning because they play the key role in meeting the total environmental requirements of the living being. Most of the maladies of the deteriorating environment can be remedied by planting trees. Plants are considered not merely the means in meeting the basic needs but exerting a great influence in restoring the environmental ills.

Horticulture crops such as flowering trees, shrubs, herbs, foliage ornamental plants, hedge and edge plants, aquatic plants and even lawn grasses possess great potential in scavenging the pollutants. Due to their huge size and spread, as well as their chemical composition and inbuilt and developed biochemical defence mechanism to absorb and detoxify the harmful pollutants and chemicals.

The Children of today and the future of tomorrow are invited to the garden and encouraged to breed the plant right from sowing seeds to nurturing the plants to maturity. This educative classes tend the children to come nearer to the nature and inspire them to love the trees and plants those are the only means to combat pollution and make our atmosphere eco friendly.
