Commitment to Community

At the society, we believe that an institution, however, illustrious its past, must always strive to create stronger future. In view of this, the society strengthened its presence in the areas of biotechnology and tissue culture. As a focused initiative, the society further developed better varieties of Papaya and Banana strains. The society also invested the central government's grant to upgrade its infrastructure. The Mist chamber was renovated and the infrastructure (flooring, humidifiers and air conditioners) upgraded.

Besides, the society took its mission outside its premises. It organized tree plantations in the Thakurpukur Cancer Research Hospital, Victoria Memorial premises, the Botanical Gardens and the Behala Blind School, among other places. It celebrated Varsha Mangal during monsoons by planting nearly 12,000 saplings and seedlings.
