There is a well-equipped Plant Tissue Culture Laboratory with Plant Hardening facilities in a small scale in The Agri-Horticultural Society. Micro propagation of banana, pineapple, orchid gerbera etc. are regularly done here. Research is carried out for protocol standardization of micro propagation of other horticultural species.
M.Sc. and B.Sc. students of the discipline of Horticulture, Biotechnology, and Microbiology from various Universities in and outside West Bengal pursue their Project work in our R & D department. Here they are imparted with both practical and theoretical training for their Course Work.
There are regular visitors including school /college students and PhD Scholars with their various academic queries in the related field. The R&D department takes all measures to provide suitable answers to their problems.
High School Bioscience students and Bioscience major college students visit the Laboratory as the part of their educational tour and to get acquainted to state of art Plant Tissue Culture Laboratory.
The Agri-Horticultural Society of India also conducts short duration Internship programmes on “Basic Techniques of Plant Micro-propagation”. This is conducted in batches of two candidates and the main emphasis is given on the practical hands on training.
